Churchill Veterinary Hospital is comprised of a modern hospital, surgical unit, radiology department and on-site laboratory.  We emphasize preventive care whenever possible to ensure a happy, healthy and long life for your pet.  We offer physical examination, vaccinations, heartworm and parasite prevention, geriatric health care programs for older pets, veterinary dentistry, and nutritional counseling services.

We recommend a complete physical exam for your pet on a yearly basis.  Lots of changes can occur from year to year, especially as your pet gets older.  Preventative health care recommendations are made based on examination findings and your pet’s individual needs and situation, which you help us to determine. 

 

This may include blood, urine, or fecal tests, vaccinations, dietary or exercise advice, and life-style changes.

Our Veterinarians are trained in state-of-the-art surgical techniques should your pet require a surgical procedure.  We offer a full range of soft tissue surgeries from routine spays and neuters to more advanced procedures.

Our on-site laboratory allows us to perform diagnostic lab testing to help us determine the best treatment plan  for your pet's medical condition including complete blood count, blood chemistry, electrolytes and laboratory  analysis.

Our modern X-Ray equipment ensures your pet has minimal exposure to radiation, while our automatic processor produces clear, quality films. 

Within minutes, we can have your pet's X-rays taken, processed and ready for interpretation by our doctors.

Endoscopy is a medical procedure that enables us to look at the gastrointestinal tract using a thin, flexible tube with a tiny  camera at the tip.   Within the tube is a channel that allows the passage of a variety of diagnostic instruments for examination and biopsy. 

 

Veterinary Endoscopy allows definitive evaluation of the lining of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and colon.  Small samples of these areas can be taken and then analyzed in order to determine the exact nature of your pet's problem.

 

 

Our EKG and Pulse Oximetry equipment can monitor your

Pet's heart rate and vital signs to better determine how

well your Pet is responding to treatment and during

surgical procedures.

 

 

 

We provide special attention to aging pets focusing on preventative measures and  the early detection and treatment of problems. 

Older patients commonly experience the same problems that older humans do – heart problems, diabetes, arthritis, chronic renal insufficiency, dental problems, hearing and vision loss, etc.  Many of these conditions we can treat to extend and improve your older pet’s quality of life.

At Churchill Veterinary Hospital, we offer veterinary dental services including basic dental cleaning, fluoride treatments,  oral surgeries, tooth extractions, periodontal treatments, root canals, orthodontics, and pediatric pet dentistry. We maintain a special digital dental X- ray unit.  Our Scaling and Polishing unit is remarkably similar to that used by most human dentists.  Many veterinarians in the San Antonio area refer their more difficult cases to us due our our extensive expertise in veterinary  dentistry. 

Using a state-of-the-art device called a Tonopen, we are able to accurately measure your pet’s intraocular pressure with this quick, painless procedure. 

We use this diagnostic test any time we have a patient with a “red eye” and for glaucoma screening tests.

At Churchill Veterinary Hospital, we offer special

reproduction counseling and services which include

diagnosing reproductive problems, determining optimal breeding

times, and artificial insemination using fresh, chilled or

frozen semen for natural and/or surgical insemination.

Often times, behavior modification techniques can help your pet to live a happier and healthier life.

We offer behavioral counseling for dogs and cats concerning such issues as separation anxiety, aggression, inappropriate urination, and many other problems that your pets may be experiencing.
